Copied information:

Margaret (Elder) Philbrick, etcher, painter and lithographer, was born in Northampton, MA, in 1914. After graduating from the Massachusetts School of Art and the Massachusetts College of Art, she married Otis Philbrick and moved to Westwood, MA, in 1941. While etching was her favorite format, she also painted in oils and watercolors, and did a series of serigraphs. After her husband Otis died in 1973, Margaret donated a number of works to the Westwood Public Library and then moved to the Berkshires where she opened an art gallery. Margaret Philbrick moved back to Westwood in 1995 where she began painting miniatures until her death in 1999. Margaret Philbrick received over 70 awards for her art and has permanent collections in the Library of Congress, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and other institutions.
